When I was in college, my Dad sent me the following clipping from the Reader’s Digest magazine.

What a sweet Dad! He sent this to me to encourage me. I had just come to the realization that I didn’t want to teach high school and coach basketball, which had been my dream for years. And now I had no idea what I should do with my life. Dad sent this to me to let me know that I am important in this world; to let me know that I am a uniquely gifted person; to let me know that there is a place and purpose for every person God created. I remember sharing this as a Christmas gift with my staff one year. And a wonderful friend had it made into a plaque for me when I retired. Now I see it daily to remind me of Dad and what he wanted me to know and understand.

And remember in the movie “The Help (2011)”, a black nanny whispers “You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important” to a white kid sitting on her lap, , holding her small hand, and looking at the stray pupil? Nanny Aibileen Clack wants the baby, Mae Mobley, to keep in mind that she is kind, she is smart, she is important. So that, she can cleave her way through obstacles.

We all need encouragement every day, and we need to know that the gifts we are using are the right ones and that they do have purpose! The enemy’s attacks are continuing fiercely and constantly. He never gives up, and we can never give up! We know whose we are; who we belong to; and who “has our back”.

Over the past week, I have read 2 devotionals from the book Commanding Your Morning by Cindy Trimm which reminded me of this clipping from Dad. The first one is asking “What is Your Mission?” Allow me to quote:

God has missions and assignments He wants taken care of. Chances are, whatever touches your heart in what you see today also touches the heart of God. He wants to reach out into that place and fix things, but He needs hands to reach out - and that is the responsibility of His body. He is not just asking for a hand to reach out on His behalf and do something; He wants it to reach out and do His thing.”

God needs us. I have heard some people, even preachers, say that God doesn’t need us. Well, yes, he is sovereign and almighty so he doesn’t need us to provide anything for him. But YES, he does need us. He did not create us to be these little “peons” running around on this earth with no value or objectives or aspirations. He created us for purpose; for reaching out to do His thing in the earth. Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The second one is entitled “Present Your Case”. It focuses on prayer life and communicating in the spirit with God to present our appeals and requests. The prayer which Cindy wrote is what stood out to me:

I arise today in Your mighty strength and with the knowledge that I was born in this generation to contribute something significant. I am not here by accident. You have placed me here to fulfill Your purpose. Father God, let us reason together so I will know which strategy to employ to take the territory You are giving me. Let nothing prevent me from walking in the fullness of what You have for me. Let Your perfect will be done in and through me today. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Let NOTHING or NO THING stop you and me from walking in the path God has directed for us! We depend on the mighty strength and grace of God to keep us and to keep us focused on the path which he destined just for you and just for me. Together we are the body of Christ reaching out to do His thing in the earth. Praise God from whom ALL blessings come!! Thank you, Lord!

And thanks to you for stopping by,

Rachel
