The potato salad is made from my mother-in-law’s recipe. My Mom’s favorite pineapple grapefruit salad is congealing in the refrigerator. Corn on the cob will be cleaned later. I can begin to smell the grilling already!! (Enhanced hamburgers, of course!!) WOW! Even in quarantine, we can still EAT!!! We can still celebrate! Yes, celebrate our Freedom, which is defined as the power to act, speak, and think freely!!

Here are a few freedoms: the freedom to worship, to gather peaceably, to celebrate together and mourn together (despite coronavirus!), to work in jobs that we choose, to live where we choose, to make our own decisions & accept the consequences, to be able to put food on our tables and a roof over our heads. Because of the sacrifices of so many since our country's beginnings, we have these (and more) freedoms.

But then where does that "power to act, speak, and think freely" really come from? It comes from the One who created us. He has given us these abilities and skills, and it is up to each one of us to realize that. Those who sacrificed for our freedoms gave us the "platform" in this country on which to act, speak, and think freely. Without the sacrifice of those who gave their lives as well as those who returned home, we would not have a platform on which to demonstrate our freedoms.

But let's remember where true freedom really comes from! This is the freedom inside of us; the freedom of knowing that Christ gave His life for me and you, and it is for ALWAYS! EVERLASTING! Life will always have it's challenges, but Jesus stays with us through every one! Just think back over your life's experiences, and figure out if you have brought yourself out of "challenges" or was it the hand of God? The God who has your back! The God who wants you to give Him those problems/anxieties as well as our praise.

Enjoy your weekend and every day beyond, knowing that only through Christ can we be TRULY FREE!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Rachel
