Remember the song “I can see clearly now the rain is gone…”? That is exactly how I feel this morning! Just look at this beautiful picture!

It is even more beautiful than last Thursday’s picture taken upon arrival.

But guess what God did this morning! I have actually been waking up at 8:00am for the past few days due to staying up so late at night, but this morning I woke up at 7:30am. I walked into the great room where Mike was working on his computer and what did God show us this morning? A partial rainbow! It was so vivid, and it was so close to the cabin!

We know that the rainbow symbolizes the covenant which God made with Noah after the flood. Here are some other symbolisms of the rainbow which relate to this weekend:

The rainbow symbolism also serves as an obvious symbol of peace and serenity. ... More significantly, rainbows are often seen after a rainstorm when the sun breaks through the clouds. This provides us with a very powerful and important message. Good and beautiful things often follow the darkest storms.

The sign of the rainbow was meant to be "for all future generations" (Genesis 9:12). When we see a rainbow now, we can let it be a reminder of our covenant-keeping God and His indescribable beauty.

The rainbow is God’s creation. We naturally delight in it. There is something awe-inspiring in the appearance of a rainbow after a storm. It is good and right that we rejoice in the rainbow as a God-ordained symbol of God’s faithfulness and mercy.

It seemed so fitting for God to end our retreat in this way. He woke me up at just the right time so that I could see the rainbow and show it to Mike who could not have seen it from where he was sitting!

God has shown me and taught me so very much this weekend about grief; about grieving well; about the individualism of the journey; about the importance of significant others to help keep me balanced; and most of all about His presence and power through it all! Nevertheless, I know that I have much more to experience and learn. As I stated in the “Welcome” section of this blog, the messages God sends are first of all for me!! It is my desire to share them with others in hopes that they will benefit from the words as well.

I thank you for your continued reading through this series of messages which have surprised even me!

God meant it for purpose!

Thanks for stopping by,

Rachel
