I was washing a peach this morning before slicing it on my oatmeal. God directed my eyes to the water as it beaded and rolled off the peach. The skin of the fruit could not be penetrated by the water. What is God showing me with water rolling over a peach??

Not only does the skin protect the peach, but the skin provides Vitamin A and C, a good source of fiber, and contains lots of antioxidants. So eating the skin is beneficial, but the skin is impenetrable by water just as skins of other fruits - apples, oranges, nectarines, etc. God’s protection and covering defends us from realities such as harsh words, stares, insincere looks or actions, or spoken/written words which do not tell the truth. They are not from God and should roll off our backs just like the water rolls off the outer skin of the peach. Thankful for God’s protection!

The peach skin may also be protecting what is inside - good fruit and a peach pit. Inside the peach pit is the actual peach seed, and you have to crack the pit to reach the seed, the reproductive part. So God is providing some protection for that peach seed because it is what will carry on the spreading of more peach trees/seeds. Just as with us, He is providing protection and covering so that we can share the Word with others.

This reminds me of the parable of the Sower and the Seed. “The human heart is like receptive soil to the seed of the Word of God.” https://www.christianity.com/wiki/bible/what-is-the-parable-of-the-sower.html

Jesus is explaining to the disciples that some will receive the Word and some will not, depending on where the seed has fallen (along the wayside where it is trodden down; on a rock where it had no moisture for it to grow; or among thorns which choked the seed’s growth). People may hear but not receive the Word in their hearts, but when the seed falls on good ground or “in an honest and good heart” (Luke 8:15), they will keep it and share with others.

Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

Regardless of reactions from others, we know that God wants us to share His Word with others, and He is providing the protection needed. It is not always easy, but knowing what we know about God and His love for us, we should just let those reactions roll off of us like the water on the peach.

Yes, I know the saying is "like water off a duck's back" so here you go!
