Over the years, I have often wondered how magazines, blogs, and online reviews are able to create articles on new diets and new exercise plans every year! In the fall, they will have the best plan ever for how not to overeat at Thanksgiving or Christmas. After the New Year, they will have the best plan ever to match your diet with your new gym workout program to prep for spring and summer. In the spring, they will have the best plan ever for your swimsuit wear for the summer. In the summer, they will have the best plan ever for staying fit. And then they will do it again the next year!! HOW DO THEY KEEP PRODUCING the "best plan ever" EVERY YEAR FOR THESE SAME SEASONS???
If these plans really worked, most women (and men) would be slimmer, have a flat belly, have shed 2 or 3 sizes, and just plain have a "hot body"! Do you see them in your town? Maybe some, but really look! If most women and men looked better, these magazines wouldn't have a need for these articles. But there must be an area of the magazine market which thrives on these various diets and exercise plans, and they keep looking for just the right one. This group tries every one with no long term success, and it must be so frustrating!! Personally I don't need to lose weight, but I sure would like to redistribute some from my middle section to a few other areas!

Certainly we want our daily intake of food to be full of nutrients, which we need for growth and life. Sometimes we even need nutritional supplements as advised by our doctors. But the bottom line is that we need to put healthy foods into our bodies and keep active in order to keep them vibrant and energetic! This is easier said than done in my book, but I try!

However, I know someone who has the ultimate, best nutrition plan ever!!!! Our awesome God who created us!
His plan is an eternal plan of life; it includes nutrients for daily living, divine thoughts from our Creator on which to focus our minds, daily Bible reading of His Word, and talks with Him about what is bothering us or what we love about Him.
His plan never wavers; his plan fits all regardless of where we are on this road of life; and his plan will never change. He will always be with us to encourage us, guide us, challenge us, and answer our questions. Pretty cool, right?
Recently I was reading the Jesus Calling devotional book, and this sentence grabbed my attention:
“As My Face shines upon you, you receive nutrients that enhance your growth in grace.” (Jesus Calling, page 261, August 28)
I would never have thought about using the word “nutrients” to describe what we receive from Jesus to enhance our growth. A nutrient is a something that promotes our growth, provides energy, and keeps our physical bodies living.

When we are in God’s presence, He gives us nutrients. He doesn’t just give us what we want; He gives us what is required and crucial to the growth and sustenance of our very lives.
But the end of the sentence states “enhance your growth in grace”. What is our “growth in grace”?
“Second Peter 3:18 tells us to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. To grow in grace is to mature as a Christian. We grow in grace by reading God’s Word and letting it “dwell in us richly” (Colossians 3:16) and by praying. Those actions by themselves don’t mature us, but God uses these spiritual disciplines to help us grow.
Therefore, maturing in our Christian life is not about what we do, but about what God does in us, by His grace.” https://www.gotquestions.org/grow-in-grace.html

This is that amazing grace which we don't deserve, but God has saved us with it. We can and will mature as Christians if we follow His best nutrition plan ever.
1) There will be no need to be discouraged before you even start. God's mercies are
new every day! (Lamentations 3:22-23)
2) There will be no need to think you are all alone in this. God loves community!
3) There will be no need to look for new plans every season. God never changes!
I encourage you to give God's plan a try! What's stopping you?
Thanks for stopping by,
Rachel
