Walking on the Liberty Hill trail near John H. Kerr Dam, I hear God tell me to look up. Usually when I am hiking, I am looking down to ensure that I don't trip on a tree root or something so I usually miss what is up above. And there is an awesome, additional environment up there! Birds, cicadas, squirrels, variety of tree leaves and branches - a different kind of activity from below!

When I saw the canopy of trees, He said “covered”. “Cover” means to “place or set a cover or covering over; spread over”. “Spread over” means to “form a cover over”. With the canopy of trees, God showed me that he has formed a cover over us with His protection, His love, and His power!

Psalm 91:1-4 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler. (NKJV)
From “God’s Covering” by Brenda Craig: (https://www.allaboutprayer.org/gods-covering.htm)
My waters cover the earth, and majestic mountains rise up out of the sea, declaring My strength, My glory. The skies and heavens are spread out like a canopy over the earth, and so I cover you this day, this moment….
Look up, and see the heavens. Look around, and absorb the beauty surrounding your life. They are My declaration of love and capability for you. As the waters cover the earth My child so I cover you.

Thanks for stopping by,
Rachel
