When I was growing up, I enjoyed playing basketball in high school. Seems that I was pretty good. So when people saw my Mom, they would introduce her as “Rachel Jolly’s mother”. Loved it! Now that my husband and I have moved back to town, I am introduced as “Mildred Jolly’s daughter”. Love this even more! There is an obvious physical resemblance between the two of us. (Of course, this means that I cannot get away with anything in this town!!) But I love the fact that I look so much like my mother and am proud to be introduced in this way.

But it can also mean a resemblance in character, mannerisms, voice, or familiar sayings.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Image in Hebrew is tselem, meaning an illusion, resemblance; a representative figure. We can be a “representative figure” or have a “resemblance” to God in many ways. The English by Oxford Dictionaries explains that the word resemble means to “have a similar appearance to or qualities in common with (someone or something).
God is a God of so many qualities and attributes. He is holy, impartial, healer, provider, our portion, strong tower, our strength, counselor, patient, love. The list could extend for much longer. He has placed Himself in us in just the way He designed us with many, various qualities.

Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being. (NIV)
Jesus is God in the flesh. He put on flesh in order to live with us and teach us (John 1:14). He now dwells within each of us who have accepted Jesus as our Savior.
Colossians 1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Do we have a physical resemblance to God? Are we a representative figure of God since we were made in His image? Yes! We have Jesus Christ dwelling on the inside of us so when we look in the mirror, we see Him! I see the God who manifested me with this glorious physical body and His qualities. We are Him!
He has made us perfect in His image. Let us rejoice at his workmanship and praise the Almighty Creator for how he has made each one of us so uniquely different with His uniquely different qualities!
Excerpt from “A Letter from God to her Daughters”:
Girl, I need you! You’re the only you I created. So, please, let yourself be the creation I made you to be. You don’t need someone outside yourself telling you how to live. Trust yourself. Trust your heart. Trust me. I’ve got you.
I am still Mildred Jolly’s daughter - the spittin' image! I am also the daughter of the King, and I see Him in me as I look in the mirror every day!
Thanks for stopping by,
Rachel
