A Screen Full of Diamonds

When I was growing up - yes, the days before central air conditioning - our windows were ALWAYS open for airflow as well as to hear the birds sing and to hear the sounds of the neighborhood and the town. I loved those sounds (and still do!). Window screens were a “given” for every household. Nothing special but awfully necessary.
I was thankful for those window screens and our 2 screened porches! From the back porch, we could sit at the table Dad made and watch the hummingbirds as we ate lunch. Our boys loved doing that and would get so excited about seeing those tiny, zooming birds.

As I walked into the kitchen one morning, I looked straight ahead at one of the kitchen windows. The bottom half, which was screened, was full of rain droplets attached to the screen from the hard rain the previous night. This made it look like it was full of diamonds. The top window panes had a few drops but not too many because they had already begun to evaporate.
In my spirit, I felt God saying that He is the “screen” in our lives. He will keep out situations, circumstances, words that we don’t need to be aware of, but He will also allow those things to filter in which He will use for our good to mold and shape us and create our testimonies.

A window or porch screen is not a complete, solid cover. It is not like the plexiglass shield which store cashiers now stand behind when we make our purchase. It will allow some rain to come through because one of its main purposes is to allow air flow.

“A window screen (also known as insect screen, bug screen, fly screen, wire mesh) is designed to cover the opening of a window. It is usually a mesh made of plastic wire, or other pieces of plastic and stretched in a frame of wood or metal. It serves to keep leaves, debris, spiders, insects, birds, and other animals from entering a building or a screened structure such as a porch, without blocking fresh air-flow.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Window_screen
As the definition states, the screen will protect us from objects too large to come through the minuscule openings in the screen, such as leaves, insects, birds, debris. However the rain droplets can come in if the rain is hard enough.

What about God’s protection? He will protect us from most situations or circumstances we find ourselves in by showing us how to navigate through those difficult times. However He will also allow some things to come through His screen which He knows will mold us, shape us, increase our knowledge, and grow our faith. His screen is the filter by which He protects us. If we did not have the filter of God’s screen, we would be slammed with works of the enemy and no type of protection. I doubt we could live through that at all!

As I walked into the kitchen this morning, I saw a clear screen with no rain droplets or insects or debris trapped on it. Today is a day for clear air flow. To me, this means God's presence; God's breath flowing through the filtering screen with no hindrances; God's protection.
Thanks for stopping by,
Rachel
