The past few months of living through this virus has included completing some home projects. Actually let me be more accurate and say that it has included thinking about and starting some home projects! One is having our side porch lengthened and turned into a sun room where I can sit and enjoy the outdoors year-round!!! (You know how I love the outdoors!) And finishing the lights and ceiling and flooring in the basement; and purchasing smaller, lighter-weight kayaks which we can more easily manage.

Well it appears to us that God has closed the doors to these projects. We have been through 3 contractors for the porch; haven’t found the type of ceiling I want for the basement; and haven’t been able to find a quality kayak in stock due to factories being closed because of the virus. As soon as an outdoor store receives a shipment, buyers are calling and purchasing them! Really! Maybe you have had similar experiences?

Last week, as these things (and a few others) were occurring, I felt God put the word “WAIT” in my spirit. When He did, I felt a burden had been lifted off of me. I physically felt that! I wasn’t aware that these projects were weighing heavily on me, but maybe they were. Or maybe it was God’s way of telling me something else.

WAIT! (to remain stationary in readiness or expectation - Webster’s Dictionary)

A few days ago, I was trying to create a scenario for our next recorded puppet story for the preschool children to see on FaceBook. I looked at the zinnias which Bobby planted back in April and how beautiful they are now as their various colors are being revealed through the different stages of development. My focus was to talk to Bobby and Jasmine about patience and how we often have to wait for things to happen or to hear from God.

WAIT! (to stay in place in expectation of - Webster’s Dictionary)

Then my devotional had the following scripture:

Psalm 27:14 Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! (NKJV)

Honestly, God, I think I am getting the picture that you want me to WAIT and focus on you even more.

When my brother, Robert, was in Boy Scouts during his high school years, he attended a summer camp near Boydton, VA named Camp Bibee. On one occasion, Mom and Dad went to visit him there. As they entered the dining room, they noticed a sign above the door which read “God is first, Others second, I Am Third”. This saying really resonated with Mom, and in later years, she cross-stitched it for Robert and me as well as other friends.

When I see God as first in my life, I know it means to humble myself before Him and others; I know my focus is on Him first; I know I will seek Him first in my decisions each day; I know that this is the type of relationship I want with my Father God.

ree

He is telling me to WAIT right now. I don’t know for how long or why, but I know what He put into my spirit so I will wait on Him. He has an indisputably consistent track record with me! How about you? Are you in a waiting season too? I want to encourage you to "stay the course"; faithfully praise God and wait! Don't get discouraged because our God is in control of all things, and He is the God of all hope!

Blessings to you and Thanks for stopping by,

Rachel
